This day continues with a detailed look at local management and governance practices within existing and emerging national and European framework conditions. Together with prestigious business representatives and other important stakeholders, local governments will explore options for partnership to advance urban sustainability. The afternoon will highlight recent European sustainability processes and honour new local political commitments to sustainability. A special Mayors’ Session and debate will end the day.

Cooperation on Eco-efficient and Resilient Urban Infrastructure (Sub-Plenaries C1-C3)

Local Government meets other sectors: How can we transform cities and enhance their eco-efficiency? Municipal and business leaders brainstorm on better models for cooperative “infrastructure governance”. A variety of players involved in planning, management and operation of infrastructure sectors (buildings, roads and transport, waste, utilities, telecommunication, etc.) meet a multitude of interests from public and private actors.

C1 - Building and Construction

Panellists discuss the new developing responsibilities that are emerging for general contractors and local governments, and address the need to deliver a radical change to take the sustainable construction agenda forward and committing to higher standards to help achieve sustainability in the building and construction industry.
